They had the recipes – Pineapple, Cucumber & Rosemary; Strawberry & Basil; Pear & Ginger. They had a market thirsty for it. Now, all they needed was an identity and cans to put it in. The brief was pretty simple: it had to jump off the shelf, but sit comfortably with their beers, party vibe and overall local-Cornish-for-the-people, good times brand feel.
Shoals Sundowners is the brainchild of serial entrepreneur, local hero and all-round nice guy, Kelvin Batt. Young, energetic and a bit maverick, he has a ‘let’s give it a go and see what happens’ approach to life. Once we’d shaken hands, he pretty much left us to it – “you know what you’re doing and we trust you to make it look amazing”. It was really refreshing and at the same time, a huge pressure, but we rolled with it.
We’ve given Shoals Sundowners that sun-bleached, hazy-lazy laidback feel that sits perfectly with the attitude of the brewery and the restaurant (and their owner). The gradients echo the glorious sunsets over Porthleven Harbour, and the colours match the quirky flavour profiles. Bold, bright and fun, when it’s Sundowners o’clock, you already know you’re in for a good time.
