Ordinary people expecting nothing

open. is a grassroots non-profit movement. Partnering with other non-profit organisations in their local community, open. donates funds, time and other resources to inspire creativity and positive change. This could be in the arts, sports, education, outdoor pursuits… wherever people need a helping hand to be their best. open. also sells an urban clothing range to help fund its projects.

The client had a logotype they were happy with. But, they needed to get a handle on what they really stood for – to rationalise it and frame it. They wanted to build a stronger brand that speaks more confidently to the community it serves.

We worked with the founders in a series of discovery workshops. Getting to grips with their audiences, teasing out their brand values and mission, and wrapping it all up in a manifesto that everyone could rally behind. Using this as the foundation, we created a new visual and verbal identity that speaks the right open. language.

After refining the existing logo, we created a secondary apparel brand mark, illustration library and defined their photographic style. The new brand makes its mark with bold colours, dynamic shapes and contemporary typography. It shouts loud and proud, “we are open. and we’re here to stay”.
